Preferred Age Level & Genre of Expertise:

YA is my sweet spot. I adore realistic YA, stories about the power of found family, strong friendships, sibling love, and stories about dealing with trauma across all genres, with the exceptions of high fantasy and romance. Please do not send graphic depictions of rape.

More About Dannie.…

Except that brief time in fourth grade when Dannie M. Olguin (She/Her) dreamed of a career as a bounty hunter, all she ever wanted to do when she grew up was work with words. As a kid, she obsessively read the backs of cereal boxes and shampoo bottles and imagined being lucky enough to write stuff like that. Reading and writing were her escape, and she fully credits them for surviving her childhood.

In 2019, Dannie co-taught a class at Dallas Fort Worth Writers Conference. She is also a Phoenix The Moth StorySlam winner and will compete in the Phoenix The Moth GrandSlam storytelling completion in 2023. As a panelist for both the American Library Association’s 2022 annual conference in Washington D.C. and the Association of Independent School Librarian’s 2022 virtual conference, she got to speak about reaching and engaging at-risk youth through kidlit with Children and Youth Services Librarians from around the country

When Dannie’s not writing, you’ll either find her hiking the nearby foothills with her husband and two geriatric dogs or hiding from the extreme heat with a bowl of watermelon and a book. Her debut novel, BETWEEN SAFE AND REAL (Fire and Ice YA), released in February 2022.

Though she’s most active on Twitter, you can also follow her on Facebook and Instagram. She’s @DannieMOlguin on all three platforms. Her website is dmolguin.com.

Testimonials.

“I received a full manuscript critique from Dannie and her advice was invaluable. She provided both developmental advice and line edits that helped me better understand how to tackle the revisions needed to make my book shine. I appreciated how she broke down her suggestions to different aspects of the book and also provided words of affirmation where they were warranted. If you're looking for a second set of eyes on your work, I couldn't recommend Dannie more!”
