Angelella Editorial

Angelella Editorial is a full-service craft-based editing agency, providing professional, in-depth and honest critiques to writers across multiple platforms. Angelella Editorial specializes in editing Young Adult, New Adult and Literary fiction as well as genre fiction, including: Romance, Science Fiction, Fantasy, Mystery, Thriller and Crime fiction. Angelella Editorial’s mission is simple: working with writers to develop their skills, hone their craft, and discover their own unique voice.

Kate Angelella began her career working as an in-house editor for Simon & Schuster Children’s Books in New York City. There, she edited for the chapter book, middle-grade, tween, and YA book markets. During her time at S&S, Kate edited several series, including the renowned middle-grade series Nancy Drew, and The Hardy Boys. She also acquired and edited over thirty additional novels, including the first novels published by Kekla Magoon, winner of the Coretta Scott King/ John Steptoe Award for New Talent and NAACP Image Award, and #1 New York Times bestselling author Nova Ren Suma. Other authors included Cecilia Galante, P.G. Kain, Taylor Morris, Shawn K. Stout, Amanda Marrone, Tricia Rayburn, Jessica Leader, and Lauren Barnholdt.

Now, Kate is a full-time freelance editor specializing in YA, NA, MG, tween and literary fiction. She loves that she gets to spend every day focusing on her favorite part of her experience editing for a Big 5—working directly with authors.

Kate believes that everyone has something important to say—everyone has a story to tell. She wants to help you make your story the very best that it can be with thorough, yet compassionate, critiques. She looks forward to working with you to develop your skill, hone your craft, and find your voice.

Though Kate is the primary editor of Angelella Editorial, her husband, Ross Angelella, is currently taking clients May-August, December, and January. Ross is a published fiction author (pen name J.R. Angelella), a writing professor for UMD and Towson University, and the only person Kate allows near her own work with that pesky red pen. For more about Ross, please check out his page in the menu.
